Georgia’s main Christmas tree will light up on Friday in central Tbilisi in front of the Parliament building, with Christmas village opening on Saturday in the capital under the slogan ‘Tbilisi – European city’.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said on Wednesday that the central location would host visitors to a programme involving “interesting and diverse” activities, urging residents of Tbilisi to attend the lighting up event.
Kaladze noted the Christmas village for the festive season, opening on Saturday, would host visitors till January 7 and would be set up at Orbeliani Square and Dedaena Garden Park on the right bank of river Mtkvari.
The Santa Claus’s house and Elve’s workshop will be arranged for children, and food courts, bars, an entrepreneurial market, photo booths and an ice rink will be set up in the Christmas village, with entertainment events including theatrical and musical performances to create a festive mood during the holiday season.
The First Republic Square in the capital will host a gala concert on New Year’s Eve.
