Shanky’s Whip Lands in Georgia

Biggar and Leith has agreed a distribution deal with Black Sea Trade Group (BSTG) to launch Shanky’s Whip in Georgia. The move follows Shanky’s Whip’s recent launches in Australia and India.

The Irish whiskey liqueur brand noted how tourism is boosting Georgia’s hospitality scene. BSTG will focus on securing on-trade accounts for Shanky’s Whip.

Elwyn Gladstone, founder and owner of Shanky’s Whip, said: “The Georgian beverage market is developing at pace and – alongside BSTG – we’re focused on inserting Shanky’s Whip into on-premise drinking occasions by encouraging trial amongst consumers coupled with significant marketing investment.

“The latest deal marks our move into 50 markets around the world as we continue our expansion plans.”

Shanky’s Whip is an Irish whiskey liqueur that is distilled in County Cavan in Ireland. It is blended and bottled by Shanky and Shireman under bond in the country.

It combines a blend of Irish spirits and aged pot still whiskey, with vanilla infused with caramel, and sits at 33% ABV.

Dmitry Petrov, business development director and partner of BSTG, commented: “Shanky’s Whip is a welcome addition to our portfolio of innovative and premium spirits, and we’re excited to bring the drink to the Georgian drinks scene.

“Georgia is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination, which is creating an energetic hospitality sector. In a well-established market for quality wines and spirits at a local level, we’re confident that Shanky’s Whip’s unique proposition will be welcomed across the trade. We’re delighted to be appointed as partners on its global expansion plans.”

Earlier this year, Biggar and Leith appointed Tim Dunlop to the newly created position of European commercial director.
