Georgia Commit Daniel Calhoun Aims for Success With New College Teammates

In a recent game, high school standout Daniel Calhoun displayed his talent on the field, helping Walton High School secure a win in Georgia’s Class 7A state championship. Standing at an impressive 6-foot-7 and weighing 365 pounds, Calhoun’s performance was instrumental in the Raiders’ offensive success, with a rush of 178 yards and six touchdowns passed by quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski.

Reflecting on the victory, Calhoun acknowledged the tough competition in the Class 7A division as some of the best in the country. He expressed his elation at claiming the win and his excitement at reaching the state championship for the first time. Notably, Calhoun faced fellow Georgia commit Elyiss Williams, a highly regarded tight end and outside linebacker.

Describing Williams as “big” and “huge,” Calhoun complimented his skills and drew comparisons to former Georgia tight end Darnell Washington. Despite the challenges of blocking someone the same size, Calhoun embraced the opportunity to face Williams, considering it a valuable challenge.

Having committed to Georgia in July, Calhoun is eagerly looking forward to joining the Bulldogs’ highly ranked 2024 recruiting class. With the Early Signing Period approaching, he is confident in the class’s strength and fervently communicates with his future teammates in group chats. Calhoun singled out quarterback Dylan Raiola as one of the funniest and emphasized their close bond.

As Calhoun prepares to block for Raiola and play alongside other committed players such as Ryan Puglisi, he appreciates the camaraderie within the class. Their tight-knit relationships extend beyond the football field, with Calhoun mentioning playing video games together and attending each other’s games.

With a shared sense of connection, the 2024 recruiting class envisions a strong brotherhood at Georgia. However, they understand that their journey to success extends beyond enrollment, with forthcoming spring and summer workouts before their freshman year.

As Calhoun eagerly anticipates the next chapter of his football career, his commitment to Georgia and his supportive bond with his future teammates serve as promising indicators of the success that lies ahead.
